COMMUNITY AND INDIGENOUS ENGAGEMENT

STAKEHOLDERS

We are committed to engaging landowners, public stakeholders, and members of the local community. We are focused on consistently informing our stakeholders of our activities and facilitating participation in a transparent engagement process. Guided by honesty, accountability, respect, and trust, our goal is to balance community concerns and perspectives with our approach to business, ensuring compliance with local laws and regulations.

COMMUNITY INVESTMENT

Jurassic Solar+ is being constructed in a rural community west of the Hamlet of Iddesleigh, Alberta. From past projects, we know that rural areas often lack funding for programs that are critical to the sustainability of the community. Northland is committed to the success of our communities and our projects for the long-term and seeks to provide support to the regions we operate in to create positive impacts through donations, sponsorships, and volunteerism.

Our commitment to community investment has three key pillars of focus:

Community Development, Health & Well-being, and Sustainability.

First Nations & Indigenous Relations

Building strong relationships with local communities and Indigenous People is rooted in Northland’s values. We take pride in our global approach to establishing, building, and cultivating strong, mutually beneficial relationships to garner trust and support from local communities. This enables us to develop, construct and operate our projects while being a contributing, valued, respected and trusted partner with local and Indigenous communities.

We respectfully acknowledge that the Jurassic Solar+ Project will be located on Treaty 7 Territory, traditional lands of First Nations and Métis people, and will respect and honour their history, culture, and language in our project.

JURASSIC SOLAR+ WILL:

  • Engage in meaningful consultation with Indigenous communities, early, often and throughout the life of our projects.

  • Encourage local and Indigenous employment, subcontracting and material supply.

  • Seek to understand and manage any potential impacts on local and Indigenous communities.
